THE BEST THINGS IN LIFE ARE FREE
As Spring, and the Easter season approaches, I was reminded of the saying, “The Best Things In Life Are Free.” At first glance you might tend to agree with that school of thought, but can you say you know this to be true?
What does “free” really mean to you?
We often think of the word Free when it’s tied to material possessions or something to do with money. When our children see advertisements luring them near with words like, “Free” attached to it, that is when we seem to remember that “Nothing Is Free”
Let’s take Freedom.
There are many different ways the word Freedom can be used.
Websters defines Freedom as : The state of being free from the control or power of another.
Today in Ukraine, those fighting to keep tyranny from entering their country, their homes and lives feel the cost of the sacrifice they and their families and friends are making to keep their freedom. I think it’s safe to say the men and women who fought for our freedom in prior years and those who stood by at home waiting for their return, knew the cost of freedom.
The things you have that are not paid for with money may not cost you, but they cost someone.
Is freedom “Free”?
Is love “Free”?
Is the air we breath “Free?”
If you stop and think about it, the things that mean the most to us are paid for with the highest price.
Let’s take Love for example.
1st -God’s Love for us…The Cost? His Son
You cannot buy anything that comes from God, but it can be received as a gift. The most important gift was paid for at Calvary
In this time of uncertainty, it is reassuring to know we don’t need money to buy the most priceless possession.
2nd -Christ’s Love for us…The Cost? Death by Crucifixion on a Cross Christ walked with men, He taught us, He was patient with us, He sacrificed for us, was tormented & suffered when He could have said “No”.
3rd -Our Love for our children. We are willing to give of ourselves, to sacrifice and go the extra mile for their happiness and safety. Many of us would not die on a cross to save our children, and thankfully God removed that requirement for us.
Now we can visit money for a moment.
Money & Prosperity is meant to take care of our needs. Money can buy you many things that create temporary pleasure, but it will never buy Happiness or Joy. If we are not cautious, it can make us too lazy to live life to its’ fullest.
For some people, their money and own self sufficiency can become a way of life. They have forgotten, if they ever knew, where the money came from and where it can quickly return.
Why are some people so lonely who have so much? Perhaps Jesus was trying to explain that to the rich young ruler in Matthew. His money was separating him from God because it was more important. His money could not buy the thing he needed most.
Some of the things that cannot be bought with money.
You can buy friends but not their loyalty; friends that see you through regardless of what you can give in return.
You can buy a wife, but not a woman who will love you and stick by you when the money runs out.
You can buy land and grain, tools to work your land, & you can own the flowers on a hundred hills, but you can’t buy rain or sun to give the seeds birth.
You can buy the best to be buried in, but you cannot buy yourself out of death.
You can buy the songbird, but you cannot buy the joy that is within her song.
Money can provide comfort in life, but it can’t provide someone to genuinely comfort us in our grief.
The Best Things In Life Are Free? Perhaps what the writer of the this thought meant to say was, The Best Things in Life Can’t be Bought With Money.
A good Thought to remember……and we will be the richer for it.
Sincerely, Mo
A Time To Reap
If We live our lives controlled by the Flesh, we are governed by the World and will die in the Flesh. Our spirit is then left for the eternal fire. If We live by the Spirit, We are guided by God through the Holy Spirit. We will die TO the flesh [put to death the…
Mountain Climb 2012
Pinnacle Mountain, Mt Pilot NC I think our responses to difficulties are all in the way we approach life in general. Very often our response to the difficulty may determine how hard the mountains in our lives will be to climb. These mountains make us better climbers or they defeat us. …

Make Friends With The Captain We have many folks talking pre-tribulation and post tribulation. It takes me to the thought I was having this morning about the Rapture, being pre-tribulation. We have no real idea what it will look like. Much like the way Jews were in the times of Jesus, we are looking to…
