There is an intersection where Pride, Jealousy and Humility meet.
Pride is one of those emotions we struggle with, another is jealousy. When do we know when it is ok to address those feelings and when to “let it go”?
God is a jealous God, He tells us He is.
When we put something before Him, it separates us from Him. Sometimes out Pride gets in the way of our common sense. Sometimes it is the very thing that drives us to do better. If we don’t allow God to guide us, we can often end up off the intended road we should be traveling and totally off course.
I ask myself if I am allowing Pride to get in my way when I must live in the shadow of another. Should I exercise more humility and move on?
Is God disappointed with me when I don’t value myself more?
I do not have the answers to these questions, but I have confidence the answers will be revealed to me as am I able to process and learn through them.
When we come to the intersection of Jealousy Pride and Humility, we must make a choice which road we will take. It is important to listen to what God is saying to us in our spirit or we will hear the world around us instead.
The world is puffed up and proud. The world says, “I wouldn’t allow anyone to treat me that way”. With that said, we begin to feel justified in making decisions in one direction when we may otherwise have made differently. This is where Humility steps in. Humility is not an easy emotion to lasso. It usually comes after the lesson.
Humility was shown to us by Christ. It is sometimes hard to know what is Humility and what is considered being a “Doormat”. If we make the wrong decision, we have simply made the wrong decision. We will learn from it, but making the right decision is typically a shorter road.
