Pinnacle Mountain, Mt Pilot NC

I think our responses to difficulties are all in the way we approach life in general. Very often our response to the difficulty may determine how hard the mountains in our lives will be to climb. These mountains make us better climbers or they defeat us.
Let’s take a seasoned climber for example. He knows he must prepare to climb a mountain. He trains himself mentally and physically for the task ahead of him. He knows there are risks and dangers involved. Knowing this is something he wants to do, he begins planning far in advance.
Each difficulty and span of the mountain he climbs makes him weaker and drains him mentally. He may many times want to turn back and give up. If reaching the top of the mountain is important to him, he will find the strength to continue onward & upward.
Life is also that way. You must prepare for it, mentally, physically and spiritually. We think when we are young we are simply meant to grow up, live life and do what others around us have always done. Nothing could be further from the truth.
For instance, if we grew up with a less than desirable childhood, we may blame our environment, or others for own bad choices. Others may be to blame for things that set you back for which you had no control, just as storms may delay a mountain climber…but we can’t go on for the rest of our lives…….living as victims. We have the option to choose to do better and pull ourselves out of the quicksand, back to dry land and break the cycle. God is always there, ready to help us, but we must ask.
We get one shot at this journey we call life. We are not to sit back and collect all we can with both hands. One hand is for receiving, but the other is to be used for giving. We are not to watch others live life and stand by as spectators, simply being told what to do. We don’t have to be the one always in need. We are to take part and become the person God created us to be. We cannot become this person on our own. God must whittle away the junk and refine the person inside the body we sloth around in. He must work on our soul. He won’t do that unless we give Him permission. God wants to save us from the prince of darkness in this world , but only if we ask Him. Satan must ask God for permission, you see he wants to destroy us. Your part is to choose, and keep climbing….the view at the top is spectacular!! This is where I find myself. Some days are stormy and my trail is slippery, but each day I try again and get closer to the top of the mountain!
